GVEA Board Elections 2008

District 1

Includes the general areas of College Road, the University of Alaska, Sheep Creek, Murphy Dome and Goldstream Roads, Farmers Loop, Old Steese Highway, Graehl Townsite, Slater Subdivision and the Railroad Industrial Area.

Dan Osborne currently represents members in District 1.

District 2

Includes the general area south of College Road, Danby Street, Aurora Subdivision, Geist Road, University West, Chena Ridge, Goldhill Road, Ester and the Parks Highway.

Tom DeLong currently represents members in District 2.

District 3

Includes the area south of the Chena River (excluding downtown Fairbanks), the Airport, West and South Fairbanks, Van Horn Industrial Area, Richardson Highway, the west half of Badger Road and Lakloey, Dennis, Holmes and Bradway Roads.

Rick Schikora currently represents members in District 3.

Members in Districts 1, 2 and 3 will elect their representatives to the Board of Directors this spring. You can meet your Board Candidate at this year's Annual Meeting held at the Carlson Center on April 29. Ballots will be mailed May 9 and must be returned by 5 p.m. June 10. Dan recently retired after 37 years as a Research Project Engineer at the University of Alaska's Geophysical Institute.

He was educated at the College of San Mateo and the University of Alaska.

He enjoys fly fishing, operating steam railroad locomotives, kayaking, camping and mountain climbing. He has a special interest in historic preservation and science education.

Dan has served on GVEA's Board of Directors since 1981 in the offices of Director, Treasurer and Vice Chairman, as well as CEO Review Chair. Additionally, since 1999, he's served as Treasurer, President, Fireman and Engineer for the Friends of the Tanana Valley Railroad.

Dan has lived in Alaska for 40 years.

District 2

Frank is a retired engineer with a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management.

He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Bradley University and a Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

His personal interest and hobbies include fishing, boating, outdoor activities, reading, wood working, metal smithing, rock collecting and lapidary. He has a special interest in environmental management, energy conservation and renewable energy.

Frank is a member of the Alaska Society of Professional Engineers, served as the Fairbanks North Star Borough - Becker Ridge Service Area Commissioner, FNSB Solid Waste Committee Member and is on the FEDCO Interior Energy Council Taskforce. He has also worked as a volunteer for the Fairbanks Food Bank.

He has lived in Alaska for 39 years.

Tom is a Contracts/Office Manager for ABR, Inc. - Environmental Research and Services.

He holds undergraduate degrees in Biology and Geology and a Masters of Business Administration.

His interests include skate skiing, biking, table tennis, canoeing, rafting, hiking, hunting, fishing, renewable energy and hot springs.

Tom is a member of the Fairbanks Nordic Ski Club and Fairbanks Interior Table Tennis. He coaches soccer, is a Breadline volunteer and works with GVEA's Scholarship Committee.

Lee is a Telecommunications Engineer with the State of Alaska.

He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Power Generation from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

His interests include electronics design, music, scuba diving and construction management.

Lee is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Alaska Association of Professional Engineers, National Association of Professional Engineers, International Association of Electrical Inspectors, Building Industry Consulting Service International Inc., and the UAF Face Off Club. He also works with the Boy Scouts of America, Door of Hope Church and UAF Engineering and Athletics.

He has been in Alaska for 40 years.

Ken is a retired Structural Civil Engineer.

He holds an Associates degree in Civil Engineering from the Wentworth Institute and undergraduate and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

His interests include sports, fishing and hunting.

Ken has been a member of Pioneers of Alaska since 1995 and is also a member of Moore St. Seniors Board of Directors. He's a member of UAF's Face off Club and Alumni Association. He's a past member of FMATS and the FNSB Solid Waste Committee, Fairbanks Boy Scout Executive Council, Fairbanks Food Bank and Rescue Mission. He served on GVEA's Member Advisory Committee from 2005 to 2007.

Rick is a Certified Public Accountant and makes up the second half of Warwick & Schikora, CPAs.

He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

His interests include bow hunting, fishing and flying. He belongs to numerous hunting groups and is interested in land management issues.

Rick has been on GVEA's Board of Directors for 22 years during which time he's served as Chairman and Treasurer. He has served with the Alaska Power Association's Resolutions Committee, Natural Gas Working Group and Insurance Exchange. He has been the Chairman of the Alaska Railbelt Energy authority Joint Action Agency since its formation three years ago.

He's a life member of the NRA, AK Trappers Association, Golden North Archery Association, Alaska Outdoor Council and Pioneers of Alaska Igloo #4, as well as several other community groups.

He has lived in Alaska for 57 years.
