Rates

GVEA offers five different rates to its members, depending on the classification of the service provided. The rates are divided into two categories: Residential and General Service (GS). Eighty-five percent of the electric services on GVEA's system are single-family dwellings, classified under the Residential rate. The four General Service rates apply to small and large power users that do not qualify for the Residential rate.

The General Service rates break down as follows:
GS - 1	Services under 50 kilowatts (kW) of demand per billing cycle
GS - 2 (1)	Services 50 kW and higher of demand per billing cycle
GS - 2 (2)	Services at primary voltage
GS - 2 (3)	Services at transmission voltage

Fuel Adjustment - $0.05903/kWh

Quarterly, GVEA calculates the Fuel Adjustment, which is also charged per kWh. This covers the remaining portion of fuel costs. It is based on a combination of forecasted and actual power costs. This charge allows GVEA to pass on increases and decreases in fuel and energy purchases to our members.

Regulatory Cost Charge (RCC)

As a regulated utility, GVEA is required to pay a regulatory charge to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. The charge is calculated on a per kilowatt-hour basis.
