Crews are Making Progress

by | Sep 30, 2015 | Outages | 0 comments

3:55pm Update:  It’s estimated that 8,000 to 10,000 meters are still without power.  This involves three substations serving these areas:

  • Ballaine (3 miles), Yankovich, West Farmers Loop to Summit Dr., University Hills, College Hills, Goldstream Valley, Summit Dr., Arbor Estates, Bartlett Hts., KATN TV, KUAC TV.
  • East Farmers Loop, McGrath, KAKQ and KIAK Radio
  • 8-Mile to 25-Mile CHSR

During major outages like this, it’s GVEA’s goal to restore power safely to the greatest number of meters in the shortest time possible. Once these larger areas have had power restored, the more isolated outages will be worked.  Members need to anticipate the possibility that it could take days to get every meter restored.

Keep in mind that changes in weather (e.g. wind, snow, rain) could affect progress.

There are 15 crews (40 linemen) working in rotation, with the assistance of additional field hands. They’ll be working throughout the night, as will the employees covering the Call Center (907-452-1151).

If you haven’t been able to get through on the phone lines and you have yet to report your outage, another option is sending your name, physical location and phone number to info@gvea.com, which are then being entered into the Outage System.

Again, your patience is greatly appreciated.
