GVEA Benvevolent Fund – Members Serving Members

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused financial hardships for families in our communities—many of our members are facing reduced wages or are unable to work. We want to continue to do everything in our power to help members during this difficult time.

GVEA believes that it is in the best interest of our community and members to create the GVEA Benevolent Fund – Members Serving Members, to provide financial assistance to eligible members who have shown a financial hardship, worked with GVEA to enter into acceptable payment terms, and who, absent financial assistance, would otherwise be subject to disconnect of electric service.

To help start the fund, GVEA will make a $250,000 contribution, which will be initiated with GVEA’s non-operating funds; these funds have no effect on GVEA operations or member rates.

Members of the public have expressed interest in making contributions to help others in the community. Through this program, individuals have the ability to make contributions to the fund.

For more information, or to make a contribution, please visit or call GVEA at (907) 452-1151.

Members Serving Members – this is the core principle on which GVEA’s Benevolent Fund is founded. We encourage all members, who are able, to join us in this cause.

GVEA Remains Committed to Members

Working extensively with members who are struggling to pay their bills is nothing new at GVEA. In the midst of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, GVEA proactively responded by providing information on financial assistance to members in delinquent status, suspending the assessment of late fees, voluntarily extending acceptance of forms declaring financial hardship due to COVID-19, and directly reaching out to members subject to disconnection. As always, we will continue to do all that is possible to work with our members facing any financial hardship, regardless of COVID-19. In addition to our ongoing efforts, GVEA has created a Benevolent Fund to assist members in need.
