We planned to send one, but after receiving seven great applications for the Youth Rally, we decided to select two students. Congratulations to West Valley junior Nick Woolf and Monroe Catholic sophomore, Olivia Dowling, who will travel to the leadership rally on July 11.
All applicants were required to write a short essay. Four applicants were selected for phone interviews. About 70 students from northwest electric cooperatives are expected to attend the rally, including six from Alaska.
At Youth Rally, students will:
- Participate in various activities aimed to strengthen leadership abilities
- Learn more about the electric utility industry and the cooperative business model
- Have a chance to win scholarships for college
- Get an opportunity to visit Washington D.C. as a part of the National Youth Leadership Council
Thanks to all students who applied. Remember, high school sophomores and juniors within GVEA’s service area are eligible to participate.
