The Good¢ents Board of Trustees met on November 16, 2022 and awarded nine grants totaling $60,000.00.
All grants from the Good¢ents Foundation are awarded to nonprofit organizations within GVEA’s service area. Applications are reviewed quarterly in February, May, August and November by a volunteer board of trustees.

Good¢ents is funded by the generous members of Golden Valley Electric Association. Since the program began in 2011, GVEA members have funded grants totaling $1,490,189.77.
Here’s a summary of the recent grants:
Denali Education Center: $5,500 toward the cost of energy efficiency retrofits to include attic insulation, lighting upgrades, domestic hot water upgrades and improved bathroom fans. Any cost savings can be applied directly back to programs that benefit Denali Borough residents, most of whom are GVEA members. The mission of the Denali Education Center is to promote understanding and appreciation of Denali through informative and inspiring programs.
Denali Preschool and Learning Center: $7,500 to finish the interior of a new infant and nap room at their facility. Finishes include drywall, paint, flooring, cabinets and electrical and plumbing fixtures. The Denali Preschool and Learning Center provides quality care for children in the Denali Borough as the only licensed facility in the Borough.
Fairbanks Rescue Mission: $15,000 to purchase a new security camera system to maintain the safety of their guests in the shelter where safekeeping is critical. The Fairbanks Rescue Mission provides emergency food, clothing and safe shelter for men, women and children of the Interior of Alaska.
Native Movement: $5,000 toward to the cost of energy efficiency retrofits to their downtown Fairbanks building. These retrofits are expected to decrease energy and maintenance costs, increase comfort, and make the building more resilient to swings in outside temperature and weather-caused power outages. Native Movement's work centers activism and human rights at the community, borough and state level.
Southeast Regional Resource Center: $1,000 to support Academic Decathlon students who live within GVEA’s service area with supplies, travel expenses or scholarship funds.
Stand Down, Inc.: $2,500 to purchase blood panel test kits and AIC test kits. Veterans will have free access to these tests, other basic health care, legal information, financial resources, benefits, housing, employment assistance, clothing and social services at 25th Stand Down for Veterans in Fairbanks on August 19, 2023 at Pioneer Park.
Tanana Valley State Fair Association: $10,500 to replace breaker boxes and install new LED lighting. The Tanana Valley State Fair (TVSFA) has been in its current location since 1952, which means that much of their facility infrastructure is over a half-century old. These upgrades will enable TVSFA to continue in their mission to highlight and enhance appreciation for Interior Alaska by showcasing competitive and commercial exhibits during an annual.
University of Alaska Museum of the North: $6,500 for the cost of two Virtual Exhibit Portals within their museum galleries. The hardware required to install these within the museum include UHD touchscreens, the computers that run them, audio isolation speaker cones, carpentry, and mounting and accessibility hardware. These installations are planned for 2023 and will improve the Museum’s local and remote gallery outreach, make their exhibition process more community-centered and increase the visibility of their history and exhibits.
Nenana Volunteer Fire Department: $6,500 toward the purchase of a new snowmobile for search and rescue efforts. The Nenana Volunteer Fire/EMS Department provides fire and EMS services as well as Search and Rescue to 1,020 square miles.
